Dave's Truck: The Arbitration, Part I Video

On April 18, 1986, Johnny Carson played a practical joke on David Letterman by stealing Dave's red pickup truck from in from of this Malibu home. Shortly after the truck was returned, Dave noticed a broken headlight that hadn't been broken before. Carson's people denied responsibility. To settle the dispute, Johnny invited Dave back to his show on June 27, along with People's Court judge Joseph Wapner to arbitrate the case. This is Part I of that arbitration.

That was awesome. I saw that? when it originally aired and it was an absolute riot. Letterman was on top of his game and so was Johnny for that matter. And Wapner didn't take any crap off of either one of them. It really made for a great 15 minutes or so of brilliant TV.

Here's a suggestion to boost Jay Leno's ratings : NBC should stage a reenactment of the imfamous Mary Phagan murder trial on his show, with Jay himself serving as the presiding judge. Leo Frank would be defended by Howard Weitzman while Fred Thompson would be the prosecutor. It would be a good history lesson for Jay Leno's? viewing audience.
